Timetrotter is a German group specialized in ancient cavalry shows, covering several periods apart from the roman one. The quality of their dresses, armours and weapons is excellent and they even ride the same horse races as were ridden in the Past.
This group took part in the Tarraco Viva Festival of 2007 and were highly popular among the visiting public. Before the show, members of the group explained the tactics used by auxiliary Roman cavalry. They started by reaching enemy units with a rain of darts or small lances to cause casualties among enemy rows and, especially, aiming to undermine their moral. Later, they endeavoured a frontal attack against broken or disorganized infantry units using a heavy lance called contos or kontos. Finally, they prosecuted rioting enemy troops using a long sword called spatha.
Another show offered by this group is "Hippica Gymnasia", a series of skilful exercises carried out with great ostentation, with horses fully adorned and riders wearing masks.
