The group Trabucaires i Abanderats del Renaixement de Calella belongs to the Cultural Association Mare de Déu del Roser, founded in 2005.
Society Mare de Déu del Roser was founded in 1572 after the Battle of Lepant (October 1571) in which inhabitants of Calella and its surroundings participated. The presence of soldier and tradesman Miquel Joan Roger, who took part in the battle and, on his victorious return, was appointed Knight of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, is documented.
The Association commemorates the event with infantry soldiers parading around the village, dressed up in costumes of that period, with plastrons and pointed hats, armed with lances and blunderbusses and flying their ensigns.
The group pursues to re-enact the events occurred with utmost precision, although the use of blunderbusses in XVIth century regular infantry units is unlikely.
