Magna celebration (in Latin Great Festival) is a historical re-enactment festival first celebrated in Badalona in 2006. Despite being so "young", this festival started off forcefully and willing to become a "must" in the re-enactment world. Some outstanding Catalan groups were invited to the event. Legio VII Gemina, for example, showed legionaries military life and performed a banquet or "convivium" in a Roman villa. The small but very active gastronomy group Kuan Um! also participated, delighting attendants with dishes and seasonings of roman cooking. Everything could be tasted: from traditional breakfasts to glasses of wine with honey drunk by Romans at all times. Members from Camp d'Aprenentatge de la Ciutat de Tarragona showed school children how to play the games ancient Baetulo children (Roman Badalona) used to enjoy themselves with.
As aforementioned, this festival wishes to become a paradigm in the re-enactment world. It must be said, though, exhibitions related to Easter processions took place within the event, in which religious or folkloric character prevailed over historical faithfulness.
Along with Magna Celebratio, a Festival of Roman Cooking also took place in Badalona. Some restaurants offered Roman meals in their menu following Roman ways: "gustatio" or aperitif, "prima mensa" or main dish and the "secunda mensa" or dessert.
