The village of Navarcles is closely linked to the monastery of Saint Benedict. This existing bond of medieval origin among both, has given rise to Monacalia Fair (Abbot's Fair), celebrated every spring. In the course of a weekend, scenes and daily life situations about the period are re-enacted in street performances.
The most widespread performance is censuses payment. In the Middle Ages Navarcles inhabitants were vassals of the monastery of Saint Benedict, and twice a year they had to pay censuses to the monastery in presence of the so-called Waiter Monk. Sal•la and Ricardis' wedding -monastery founders and principal benefactors thanks to land donation- is also performed. A third recreation is "Costells Punishments" in which blasphemers and criminals were tied to a wooden trunk for public taunt.
Apart from them, various workshops also take place as well as knight fighting simulations, artisans at work and mediaeval music.
