Over the last seven years, the Catalan Museum of Archaeology has been organising the so-called Iberian Weekends.

These weekends consist of varied activities taking place at the following 17 Iberian archaeology sites: Ullastret (Palamós), Puig de Castellet (Lloret de Mar), L'Esquerda (Roda de Ter), El Casol de Puigcastellet (Folgueroles), El Turó de Montgròs (El Brull), El Cogulló (Sallent), Ca n'Oliver (Cerdanyola del Vallès), Puig Castellar (Santa Coloma de Gramenet), El Molí de l'Espígol (Tornabous), La Fortalesa (Arbeca), Olèrdola, La Ciutadella (Calafell), Sant Miquel (Vinebre), Coll del Moro (Gandesa), El Castellet de Banyoles (Tivissa) and La Moleta del Remei (Alcanar).

According to the Museum, these weekends are the fastest and safest way to travel 2.000 years back in time. They are filled with leisure and cultural activities that will allow visitors to learn about life in Catalonia more than 2.000 years ago. Hands-on workshops about ancient professions and occupations will show visitors Pre-Roman Iberian culture at its highest degree of economic, political and social development.

During the weekend, all archaeology sites can be toured guided by "ancient Iberian citizens" dressed in Iberian costumes. Pottery making, fabric dying and manufacturing workshops are available as well as a basket, ornaments and coin making demonstrations and games, ancient professions and gastronomy displays. A highly popular activity is the visualisation through magnifying glass of all inhabited settlements. Seminars and lectures about Iberian culture can also be attended.
